The eight pieces that make up this album were performed and recorded live on a Eurorack modular synthesizer in the period immediately following a near death experience in 2019. There was no midi involved, no other instruments, and no overdubs. I added additional FX and mixing in Ableton Live. While I didn't have any narrative intentions in the moment as I created these instrumental pieces, in retrospective I felt that when arranged in this sequence they helped tell the story of my experience of illness and recovery.

We open with the everyday chaos where you can easily be unaware that something is deeply wrong in the background because you are just caught up in everyday life, followed by a period of insomnia and chills/sweats with no clear source, eventually getting tested with no results, culminating in crisis/collapse. That's part one (Tracks 1-4). In part two (5-8) I awake in a heavily medicated fog but finally come back to life, am overwhelmed by a newfound sensitivity and awareness to the granular detail of my physical and emotional existence, and eventually settle in on the way back home: back to the everyday, perhaps chaos and pain, perhaps another crisis brewing that I can't see.

These musical pieces will also be available as part of a generative audiovisual collaboration with The Glad Scientist.

First off, this entire project goes dumb hard! Everybody really just dropped straight heat and it makes me love my city so much. Mr. Moody Bruh!!!
